Bitter Sweet

I was "released" from my calling as 1st Counselor in the Young Women's presidency last Sunday.  It was bittersweet. I have been in Young Women's for 4 1/2 years, the entire time we have lived in his ward.  I LOVE being a YW leader. These girls are amazing, talented, beautiful, kind, and thoughtful.  They really are the rising generation and they have what it takes to build up the LDS Church and share the Gospel with those around them.

Not that we haven't had some drama here and there, we are girls after all!  But in the end it's all been worth it and I have learned something valuable from each of these girls and ESPECIALLY the other leaders.  I feel like our closest friends in this ward our my fellow YW leaders.

I was emotional about being released last Saturday and thought I had it under control when I came to church on Sunday. When I walked into the YW classroom to teary eyes, I was so touched that they were going to miss me as much as I am going to miss them.  When we stood up to recite the Young Women Theme, I kind of lost control and couldn't help but cry because it was the last time I would get to share in the strength of reciting the theme with them each week, and the special friendship I have felt with them and the other leaders. After church I got lots of hugs, "love notes" and treats from my girls expressing their appreciation for being their leader. I felt so special and loved and was grateful that they knew just how much I had loved them for the last 4 1/2 years.

This calling has changed my life for the better!

These were taken at the "4th Year Overnighter" near Christopher Creek campgrounds. The stake staff had all sorts of fun things set up for us - A zip line, archery, team building games, spiritual and physical/self defense, a yummy dinner around the lanterns (fire restriction) and of course REAL camping in tents.

We had Girls Camp or Girls Resort at Camp Shadow Pines the last week of May. It was a great week, in spite of a couple of "hiccups" we had this year, I had some awesome experiences with these girls and our final testimony meeting was one of the best ones I have been in.  These girls bore pure testimony of the Gospel and the Spirit was so strong around our camp fire. I am going to miss being with them and the leaders every Sunday and Wednesday.

The AWESOME Leaders - Maddie Janes, Me, Angi Peterson, Sarah Carr, Laura Gloschat, Dawn White.

I cannot emphasizes enough what amazing women these leaders are. Heavenly Father knew that I needed them in my life at this time and I have learned so much about how to be a mother and friend from each of them.

In spite of the bitterness of spending less time with "my girls" the sweet part is I am looking forward to my new calling as Primary Secretary and making special friendships with the 5-12 year old children in our ward.

HarMonica - you are so great. You would be an awesome fun YW leader. That's why they loved you. That's a long time for a calling like that, especially with little ones at home. You go girl!
