Six Years and Steak

To kick off our 6 year anniversary celebration we went to the Mesa LDS Temple to do a session. One of John's friends, Eryn, watched Linc for us. When we got back we found that Monica's parents had stopped by and left us a little Anniversary Eve treat. I'm not even really sure what they are actually called but we'll just call them chocolate fruit tarts of pure delight! They also left some lilies, a bottle of sparkling cider and a card with more surprises inside :) Thanks dear in-laws!

Being the awesome parents we are, we let Lincoln toast to our 6 magical years with us!

We dined in style and with the utmost classiness at Ruth's Chris Steak House, a fine dining experience enjoyed by the most uppity of individuals in all of Scottsdale, AZ. Here is the classiest loaf of bread you have ever seen!

Below is a picture of the last bite of my 6oz filet mignon. Originally, it was crowned with 5 succulent sauted shrimp. As you can also see from the quality of this picture, I like my steaks medium rare in temperature. Monica likes medium well. Just so you know.

In case you were wondering, our waiter Sergio came by and sprinkled the Happy Anniversary confetti on our table special for us!

These were the fabulous desserts that came with our fabulous meal: chocolate mousse in an edible chocolate cup and fruit with custard. . .WOW!

And here's the happy couple with that sparkle in their eyes!

It's been such a great 6 years! Here's to forever!

6 years of Wedded Bliss

6 years. That went by very fast. Married life has been unexpectedly pleasant. This will most likely be a long post. We don't keep regular journals, so its nice to recap our lives every now and then. Hope you enjoy reminiscing as much as we did.

We had lunch every week, went hiking together, talked about who were were dating at the time. Often took each other as a date if finding a "real date" for group dates was too much trouble. We were best friends and had been dating off and on for almost 4 years at this point.
- Steilacoom Beach, Washington Christmas Break 2002

The night we officially got engaged - Shawn popped the question by drawing all of our memories in a book. Each memory started with "Remember when...". The final entry was "Remember that night in February when I got down on my knee and proposed to you..." Monica said "Really". The rest is history. - January 2003

We were married at the Jordan River Temple in Utah on March 27, 2003. It was FREEZING the day we were married. Everyone is wearing coats and warm clothes and Monica had her veil to keep warm!

See! Everyone is wearing a coat, but Monica.

We had our wedding reception at The Colonial House in Lehi, UT.

We spent our honeymoon in San Diego, CA and Disneyland. San Diego is our favorite city in the US. We have been there almost a half-dozen times since we got married.

Birthday Tribute

Happy Birthday Joseph! Joseph is a real live war hero; he served two tours in Iraq with the US Marine Corp. Joseph is studying Construction Management at Mesa Community College and is transferring to Arizona State University in the fall. If you have any single sisters, cousins, nieces or friends in their 20's and they are looking for a real American hero, give us a call, we can hook you up with him!

Lincoln's 2!

Our little man turned 2 last Saturday! Ahh, they grow up so fast!

We decided there was no better way to celebrate 2 years of life than to have a picnic and eat burgers. Any excuse to eat burgers! We had a Disney Cars themed birthday complete with tshirt, banners, plates, tablecloth and some pretty awesome birthday cupcakes a la Monica (Some of you know that Monica makes the best cupcakes, and now you all know)

Uncle John gave Linc his own pet fish. We named him Mo.
